Lake Manyara

Located 125 km from Arusha, Lake Manyara National Park makes a great short safari trip or add-on to a larger adventure. It can be visited in both the rainy and dry season, but the dry season tends to be a bit more expensive and busier. Lake Manyara is particularly well known for its birding opportunities and its photogenic scenes of thousands of flamingos. The Park is popular for active safari activities including canoeing, walking, and biking.

Tour Itinerary

Pick Up in Arusha

We will come to your hotel and pick you up at 11AM to make the 125 km drive to Lake Manyara. The trip usually takes about 2 hours, and we will stop for lunch along the route. On the way you will pass many villages and fields where maize, coffee, and bananas are cultivated.

Africa Safari Glamping

Our overnight stay will be at the Africa Safari Glamping accommodations about 5 minutes from Lake Manyara. This laid back campground features a pool and a bar. Food service can be added on for an additional fee, or you can join us in the nearby town for dinner. Many visitors have reported seeing animals grazing in the campsite itself including wildebeest, antelopes and hippos.

Bike Safari

After breakfast we will grab bicycles and head out into Lake Manyara National Park with a Park Ranger. Travelling under your own power through the lake area that is teeming with wildlife is a memorable experience. We will eat packed snacks to maximize our time spent biking around the Park. Game drives can also be organized in lieu of a bike safari.

Lunch and Travel to Arusha

After completing the bike safari, we will return to the Africa Safari Glamping to collect our bags and then head out for lunch. Our drive back to Arusha will take about 2 hours and will drop you off at the destination of your choice.

We price our trips based on the use of public transport or private taxis, and modest but well-maintained hotels with AC rooms and mosquito nets.
