Zanzibar Island

Zanzibar is world famous tourism destination and for good reason. The modest sized island, easily accessed from Dar es Salaam, is packed full of culture, history, nature, all surrounded by stunning tropical beaches. The main urban area, Stone Town, is a historic centre of commerce with Swahili and Islamic influences. The famous intricately carved doors that can be found while wandering down its winding lanes, amongst frequent minarets, creates an environment wholly unique from elsewhere in Tanzania. On the other end of the island villages such as Nungwi and Kendwa feature expansive beaces and modern hotels.

Tour Itinerary

Day One

We will pick you up in Dar es Salaam and take you to the hectic ferry dock for the fast ferry to Zanzibar. The ride offers excellent views but can be bumpy on a rough vessel. For an additional cost, we can also arrange flights to Zanzibar instead. On arrival on Stone Town we will settle into your hotel. We will be eating nearby and can walk you over to the restaurant, checking out the historic neighbourhoods along the way.

Day Two

The second day of our trip will be oriented around Stone Town. Our walking tour will walking tour explores Zanzibar’s history and unique architecture, from a former Sultan's palace to a vibrant market. We will also visit the Old Fort, Christ Church, and Forodhani Park. After a break at your hotel, we will take you to the iconic Restaurant on the Rock which is perchered on large boulders off the shore and can be walked to in low tide.

Day Three

After breakfast, we will begin the journey up island towards the beach villages in the north. Half way across the Zanzibar we will stop at a spice plantation. Depending on the season, we can participate in a cassava leaf harvest and take traditional cooking lessons. After lunch, we will continue travelling north up to the tip of Zanzibar. We will be staying at Zanzicrown Hotel located a short walk from the main beach.

Day Four

Beach day - spend time relaxing and taking it slow. But if you are up for more adventure, there is an endless array of activities we can arrange for you from snorkeling, scuba diving, dune buggie tours, and swimming with turtles. When booking this trip you will have the option to extend your stay in Nungwi as long as you want.

Day Five

After breakfast, we will begin the journey back to Stone Town to catch the fast ferry to Dar es Salaam. After crossing the water and arriving in Dar es Salaam, we will escort you past the crowds gathered and the ferry dock and transfer you to the airport or hotel of your preference.
